Labour Day tribute to hospital staff

For International Workers Day, the Director of Kolda Regional Hospital, Dr Makhan Danfakha, paid a warm tribute to all staff at the hospital for their steady commitment and their strong sense of public service.

In his address on 1 May, delivered in the presence of the regional Director of Labour, the president of the inter union body and several social partners, the Director recalled the full symbolic weight of this day devoted to workers. He also highlighted Senegal's efforts to promote workers' rights, notably through its membership of the International Labour Organization and the guarantees set out in the Constitution.

Addressing the hospital's different professional groups, medical, paramedical, administrative and technical, Dr Danfakha praised their professionalism, their spirit of sacrifice and their determination to maintain continuity of care despite the many constraints the health system still faces.

The Director also acknowledged the validity of the concerns raised by staff and restated his willingness to maintain a constructive and continuous social dialogue with a view to improving working conditions.

He expressed his conviction that Kolda Regional Hospital has the potential to become a reference hospital, in line with national development priorities, in particular the Transformation Agenda 2050, the Master Plan 2025 to 2034 and the National Development Strategy.

Restating his ambition to promote participatory governance built on the value of internal skills, he encouraged all staff to continue their efforts in a spirit of collective commitment and cohesion. The ceremony took place in a warm atmosphere marked by appreciation and fraternal exchanges.
